Stay or leave ? The silent dilemma of our time
There are moments when we can no longer keep feeding illusions. Uncertainty stops being a hypothesis: it becomes a mere hope in the face of an adverse certainty—and the framework within which we must now operate.
I’ve lived in Chile for 35 years. Despite its turbulence, this country remains my anchor. A reasonable plan A—though not without doubts. I observe, with clarity, the evolution of Europe—my roots—and I see it clearly: the illusion of a peaceful return dissolves in the face of growing economic, social, and geopolitical instability.
The strategic retreat of the United States, escalating military tensions, colossal public debts, and a loss of sovereignty among European states are clear signals. The vision of a strong, united Europe is faltering—and with it, the comfort of those hoping to “go back.”
For a long time, I believed that not acting was a form of resignation. Today, I understand that in an uncertain world, prudence, active observation, and the ability to remain in control of our decisions are essential strengths.
👉 Sometimes, stability doesn’t come from movement, but from the ability to read reality—without illusions or self-deception. Reality is never quite as we dream it, nor as terrible as we imagine it.
I share this reflection because many of us feel this silent dilemma: change our lives or endure? Leave or stay? Bet on the old world—or build from what is still tangible?
Each person has their answer. Mine, for now: to live fully where I am, while keeping a door open to the future. To observe, prepare, and protect what matters most: inner peace, clarity, and free will.
